What the course covers:
Introduction to floor care
Fundamentals of maintenance and protection. The importance of correct surface identification before starting any work.
Chemicals & the pH scale
Understanding neutral, alkaline and acidic cleaners. Safe vs unsafe usage on different surfaces.
Floor types & care requirements
Stone, tiles, grout, LVT and safety flooring — with specific care methods for each floor type.
Cleaning methods & techniques
Correct processes for effective maintenance. Avoiding common errors and damage.
Stripping & resealing floors
Safe stripping techniques. Selecting and applying the correct sealers. Restoring natural appearance and protection.
Equipment, chemicals & safety protocols
Using industry-standard machines and tools. Health, safety and COSHH considerations.
Best practices & troubleshooting
Establishing reliable maintenance routines. Problem-solving common floor issues.
Hands-on training & practice
Live demonstrations of stripping, sealing and cleaning, plus guided practical experience with professional equipment.
