One Day Training Course
A comprehensive course combining theory, live demonstrations and hands-on practice — giving cleaning professionals and floor care specialists the confidence to correctly identify, test, clean, maintain and protect a wide range of hard floor surfaces. Delegates leave with full certification, aftercare handover packs, and the ability to choose the right products and methods for every surface.
What the course covers:
Surface & material identification
Correctly identify natural stone, man-made tile, grout, vinyl, LVT and other hard surfaces. Understand porous vs non-porous materials and their vulnerabilities.
Material testing
Carry out correct on-site tests to identify surface type. Test for porosity, coatings and existing sealers, then use those results to determine the correct cleaning and maintenance procedure.
The pH scale & chemical knowledge
How the pH scale applies to cleaning, which chemicals are safe or unsafe for different materials, and where to use neutral, alkaline or acidic cleaners.
Damage vs maintenance
Recognise true damage (etching, deep scratching, staining) versus maintenance issues (soiling, grout discolouration, loss of sheen) — and know when to maintain and when to restore.
Diamond polishing fundamentals
Introduction to diamond pads, resins and polishing powders, and how to restore gloss and clarity safely.
Maintenance techniques
Cleaning and maintaining tiles, grout, stone, vinyl and LVT. Hands-on demonstrations with machinery and pads, plus developing effective daily and periodic maintenance programmes.
Sealing, stripping & polishing
Choosing between impregnating, enhancing or topical sealers. Stripping coatings safely back to the raw surface. Polishing and finishing techniques for a professional result.
Tools & machinery
Recommended starter machines, wet vacuums and accessories. Choosing diamond tooling for the correct surface and finish.
